Rita Castro is Professor in the Medical Microbiology Unit at the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHMT/UNL), since 2004. Medical degree from the Classic University of Lisbon and specialized in Cliniocal pathology.
