Patrícia Salgueiro is Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Medical Parasitology Unit of IHMT/UNL, since 2008.
She graduated in Biology in 1998 and completed the PhD in Evolutionary Biology in 2007 at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
Since 1998, she was awarded three fellowships and three travel grants. This allowed her to develop a wide network with 10 research teams around the world (Europe, North and South America and Africa).
Her scientific career covers the areas of evolutionary biology and molecular ecology, having been working specifically on three domains: i) population genetics and insecticide resistance in insect vectors of dengue and malaria; ii) population genetics and evolution of drug resistance in the malaria parasite; iii) conservation genetics of endangered species.
She has participated in 20 research projects. Nine of those were international. Until 2013, she was the PI of a project entitled “Past and present population genetics of the vector Aedes aegypti: a tool for dengue control policies”.
P. Salgueiro has co-authored 80 works, including one book chapter and 17 papers in international peer reviewed journals, which received 526 citations, providing an h-index of 11.
