Hemovigilância e segurança do doente em Portugal

She is the Coordinator of the Portuguese Haemovigilance System Steering Committee since 2011. She is trained as a medical doctor (Lisboa 1986) specialized in community medicine (1992) holding a Competence in Healthcare Services Management (2007).
She joined the Portuguese Blood and Transplant Institute (IPST) in 1995, started to work in haemovigilance in 1998 and became the Haemovigilance Coordinator for the Southern Region in 2008. Currently she is also responsible for the implementation of recommendations for preventive measures on blood transfusion risks, at national level.
Escoval is the secretary of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) Haemovigilance working party since 2011 and a member of the International Surveillance Transfusion Adverse Reactions and Events (ISTARE) working group since 2015.
