Tracking the spread of Zika virus in the Americas: insights from a sequencing journey at the source of the epidemic

Nuno Rodrigues Faria | University of Oxford

He concluded his BSc Biomedical Science at Instituto Superior Tecnico, Lisboa, in 2007, and a MSc Medical Biology (Hons) at the University of Amsterdam in 2009, followed by a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the Rega Institute, University of Leuven, Belgium. Over the last 3 years, Nuno has been a Research Lecturer in Infectious Diseases at the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford, and more recently he has been awarded the Sir Henry Dale Fellowship from the Royal Society. He teaches regularly in the UK, Brazil and international workshops, and he is mostly interested in the molecular epidemiology of human and animal viruses, such as HIV, influenza, dengue, zika and chikungunya viruses.
