Ana Tavares | GHTM, IHMT-UNL
She is a Pos-Doc researcher at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, since October 2016.
Graduated in Biology by the Universidade de Aveiro in 2000, she completed a master degree in Medical Microbiology in 2006 at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and a PhD degree in Molecular Genetics in 2014 at the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
Ana Tavares worked in the area of molecular epidemiology and virulence of staphylococci, mainly with MRSA causing infections in individuals in the community. She was also involved as main responsible in a biorepository of antimicrobial resistant gram-positive bacteria.
Currently her main research interest is related with the best practices in establishing biobanks based on national and international regulations and standards.
