The Scientific Incentive Award of the Rectorate of Universidade Nova de Lisboa was awarded, on 19 October, during the Solemn Opening Ceremony of IHMT’s Academic Year 2015/2016, to Henrique Silveira, member of the research group Vector-borne diseases and pathogens – VBD and to Miguel Viveiros, from the TB, HIV and opportunistic diseases and pathogens -THOP research group, from the Global Health and Tropical Medicine – GHTM R&D center.
This prize is awarded by the Directorate of IHMT to the authors/co-authors of scientific articles published in 2014 in journals with high impact factor.
The published work that led to these prizes are:
- Henrique Silveira: co-author of the article with the title “Gut Microbiota Elicits a Protective Immune Response Against Malaria Transmission“, published in the scientific journal Cell
- Miguel Viveiros: co-author of the article with the title “A Robust SNP Barcode for Typing Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Complex Strains“, published in the scientific journal Nature Communications
The award was handed out to both researchers by NOVA Rector, António Rendas.
