The “Treatment for All” program was implemented in many countries with an aim to offer treatment and care to anyone diagnosed with HIV, regardless of the stage of infection (CD4 cell count). In Portugal, this program was implemented in 2015 [World Health Organiztion (WHO), 2021]. The widespread use and increased coverage of antiretroviral therapy (ART) […]

Abstract: The role of migration as a determinant in child mental health has been demonstrated in a number of studies. However, results are not always consistent, and the research continues to be scarce, especially in Portugal. We examined the association between sociodemographic profiles and the chance for the development of emotional and behavioral difficulties in […]

Access to free antiretroviral therapy (ART) in Sub-Saharan Africa has been steadily increasing over the past decade. However, the success of large-scale ART programmes depends on timely diagnosis and early initiation of HIV care. This study characterizes late presenters to HIV care in Santiago (Cape Verde) between 2004 and 2011, and identifies factors associated with late presentation for care. We defined late presentation as persons presenting to HIV care with a CD4 count below 350 cells/mm3.
